CLI Client

August 20th, 2009

You are using Linux or OS X? You like the CLI? If so, our CLI client is for you!

It's a small Ruby tool to upload files directly from the CLI.

Usage is as simple as:
hoodow@abaddon ~ % pickhost pics/desktop_kde4.4_4.png
This returns the URL and copies it to your clipboard (requires xclip on Linux).

To install it just run
sudo gem install Hoodow-pickhost-cli --source http://gems.github.com

For authenticated uploads just create a ~/.pickhost-cli.yml file with the following content:
user: <your username>
token: <your token>

Your API token can be found in your account settings.

The client uses our simple Upload-API which is currently limited to 50 uploads per hour. We will post more about the API when it's complete.

If you are interested in the code, it's hosted at GitHub.

Announced Features delayed

September 4th, 2008

The features I announced in the last post are delayed for uncertain time.

This is cause a bigger project I’m currently working in contract at.

I’ll try to release small updates in the next weeks. Stay tuned!

The next week

August 6th, 2008

In the next days Pic(k)host will get some cool updates. We will implement more social features, what exactly you will see when it’s done.

As well we will move our backups to the european Servers of Amazon S3 which allows us to create nearly real-time backups of your images. The current setup just backs up once a day.

If you have specific wishes regarding new features don’t hesitate to drop us a mail at team@pickhost.eu.

Some updates!

July 26th, 2008

After a long time I deployed some updates today.

It is now possible to choose whether your uploads are publicly available or private. Public images currently appear in your RSS-Feed (read below), private ones are only accessable with the correct link and only listed in your account. Some more features using your public images will come in future.

With the new RSS-Feeds you can share your public images with everyone. They are accessable by the RSS-icon on the bottom of your account page.

The pagination finally got a better look and a small bug were fixed, which throws an error when the upload button were hitted without specifying an image.

Dirlistings fixed

June 3rd, 2008

We fixed a critical bug which allowed everyone to browse through all images. We are really sorry for this possible infringement of your privacy.

If you find a bug or just think there can be any improvement drop us a mail to team@pickhost.eu.

The Pipe

May 27th, 2008

In the next few days Pic(k)host will be improved with two small features:

  • Thumbnails in your image listing ( well, not really a new feature )
  • Possibility to delete your uploaded images completely

Stay tuned!

Update:

All done now. The image listings will be more beautiful sometime.

I’m open for all suggestions..
